The development of a Remanufacturing Design Platform Model (RDPM): applying design platform principles to extend remanufacturing practice into new industrial sectors

چکیده

Until recently, many manufacturers of electronic products solved the problem of end-of-life (EOL) product disposal by utilising landfill sites. However, rapidly decreasing landfill capacity, and legislation controlling the disposal of waste electrical and electronic materials has focused attention upon environmentally friendly methods of product disposal and renewal. This paper summarises these methods before describing a new project aimed at identifying and modelling key physical components that possess a useful life of more than one product lifecycle. The initial stage of the research involves the use of novel web software using the Delphi technique. The paper describes this tool together with its development and initial use.
